Ashes to Ashes Enamel Pin

I created this enamel pin in honor of my mother's passing. She passed away on September 1st, 2020 from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. I was her caregiver for a year and a half before her passing and was able to witness her being in the active dying stage and her last breath.
My mom always told me her plan was to be cremated and this pin is in honor of her decision and the beauty of a loved one's remains. If you've ever looked at cremated remains, the white ashes kind of sparkle and there's deep sadness and beauty when looking at them. There is beauty in returning our loved ones to the earth and while death is inevitable, it's a sacred part of everyone's journey - either as a witness or within the act of passing away and leaving our physical body.
I hope this pin comforts you - either in knowing that eventually we will all be ashes and dust, or knowing that your loved one is once again part of the earth and continuing to nurture living things, even in their death.
